Brothers Viktor, Robert and Paul Campestrini founded the tea trading company Viropa Import GmbH in 1977. To this day, they still manage the company, which imports, processes, packages and distributes high quality black and green teas as well as herbal and fruit infusions. Their organic herbal infusions with the South Tyrolean seal of quality are especially important to them. The herbs for these are grown in South Tyrol before being carefully processed and packaged by Viropa.
Close, fair collaboration with local herb farmers is essential to these infusions, which bear the South Tyrolean seal of quality. “The various infusions are gently packaged by hand at our own production sites in Brixen/Bressanone to preserve their freshness and digestibility, and to enable us to offer an absolutely top-quality product”, says Paul Campestrini explaining the work process.
Sustainability and authenticity are therefore two qualities that not only play a key role during cultivation. “Products like teas and infusions, which so clearly represent nature, should themselves be pure in nature, from the ingredients to the packaging”, believes Paul Campestrini. For this reason, a special production technique is now employed to scale down the filter paper tea bags to a minimum. The tea bags require no metal staples and only materials that are 100 percent biodegradable and manufactured from renewable raw materials are used. “The filter materials for our pre-portioned teas are made from sustainably grown abaca, a leaf fibre that comes from a relative of the banana plant”, explains Paul Campestrini.
And these endeavours to preserve the products’ natural quality are evident in the taste – a result of which Viropa is extremely proud. Ongoing research and development at the company mean that it will continue to offer new, innovative and unique tea products.
