Lyopharm’s promise is simple: “We can freeze-dry anything you want.” But what is freeze-drying exactly? And how is it used to create quality South Tyrolean products?

The concept behind freeze-drying technology is to extract water from liquid and solid raw ingredients. Here, products are frozen and then gently heated under vacuum. This is the only method of dehydration that perfectly preserves the quality and properties of foodstuffs. Proteins, vitamins and other valuable nutrients are conserved with this technique, allowing the products to be used in foods, for medicinal purposes or in nutritional supplements. And freeze-drying is precisely what Lyopharm does, manufacturing a wide variety of products for third parties, from whey protein and diet foods to sweeteners, cosmetic products and, of course, freeze-dried fruit snacks.

All products have a shelf life of at least three years, are gluten-free and are free from additives, colours and preservatives. In addition, organic versions of some products are available, including South Tyrolean dried fruit which bears the South Tyrolean seal of quality.
